Season 10 Week 1 Review by Imperial Society of
Teachers of Dancing Fellow and Examiner and
Championship Adjudicator Phillip Stephens
Brook Burke joined the show this season as a somewhat mediocre co-host
This batch of "stars" had just 3 weeks of preparation time for their 3/22/2010 debut, so it will be interesting to see how well they perform with so little preparation time.

Season 10 Week 2 Review by Imperial Society of

A good job with timing and acting out the
choreography which was rather complicated for week
2. Shannon used her legs and feet fairly well and
did stylish arms and had a winning smile. She
relaxed and got better as they went along. This was
a much higher caliber performance than I expected
from watching the practice scenes. 18?

Season 10 Week 3 review by Imperial Society of
Teachers of Dancing Fellow and Examiner and

If you remember The Beverly Hillbillies show, you'll
know what I mean by saying that Pamela Anderson
looked like a modern day dressed-like-a-girl Ellie
Mae Clampitt.

This
week, which is a Double Score Showdown where each
couple receives 1 score for performance and 1 score
for technique, the couples dance either a Rumba or a
Tango. In each dance, the judges have required the
performance of 3 compulsory steps.

Season 10, Week 5, Dancing With The Stars Review by
Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Fellow and
Examiner and Championship Adjudicator Phillip

Each
couple had to dance to music from a film and bring
the theme from the movie into their routine. Some
were better at this than others. Some relied on
props too much, but all of them put a lot of effort
into their performance.
I was not at all taken with Erin’s outfit this week
– why make such a lovely woman look like a
street-walker?

Season 10, Week 6, Dancing With The Stars Review by

Argentine Tango or Samba as a week 6 dance, plus the
Swing Marathon
Pamela Anderson as other than a blonde? Quite an
interesting look. Looks like this will be “Guys in
plunging necklines” night. Not sure why, but Samba
seems to always brings that out in male dancers.

Chad Ochocinco & Cheryl Burke
Tango: Chad displayed an odd shoulder position and
his head was too far forward. His body didn’t
develop the lines. His butt was drooping down and
his arm lines were not all that good. He seldom
didn’t look at Cheryl.

Season 10, Week 9, Dancing With The Stars Review by

Next is my review of Dancing With The Stars, and
here are some things to think about.
1. I like the show because it brings dancing into
the limelight and makes it available to millions of
people who would otherwise not know much about it.
2. I don't like the show because it is over the top
in the "Hollywood" division. So much extra drama, so
much emphasis on romance, so much near nudity and
such biased judging.
3. Most of the time, I think the music stinks, but
remind myself that they are trying to appeal to a
very wide audience. The songs we dancers know are
best for Cha-cha, Paso Doble, Tango, etc, aren't all
that appealing to someone who grew up with rap,
hip-hop, pop, C&W, etc, so they are just trying to
put things in a context that will have more meaning
to more people, and we dancers just have to suffer
through it.
4. The show could really use a re-vamp in the
judging department. They should be consistent,
providing the same criticisms of the same faults to
all contestants. If one person gets scolded for bad
footwork and the next person gets praised for good
footwork when making the same bad mistakes, it's
confusing to the audience.
5. There should be no elimination during the first 3
weeks, giving everyone a chance to be seen in all
styles of dance and get their legs and feet more
seasoned to the craft. In week 4, eliminate 3 people
if you must, but make sure it's the poorest dancers,
not just the ones with the fewest fan votes.
