With The Stars competition on ABC.
DWTS, Season 5, Week 1
Guys'
Night on DWTS
was quite a
surprise in several ways. First and foremost
were the Latin costumes, which, all in all, were
quite tasteful! I do think it was a bit
"corny"??? of Mark Cuban to wear a PATCHED set of
tails for his Foxtrot, but I guess they were trying
to be clever.

In general, the
costumes were
OK. I
didn't care for
Mark Cuban's
sleevless look;
he doesn't
really have the
body for it.
And though
wearing a
sleeveless
shirt didn't
quite make him
look like a
"redneck" from
Blue Collar
Humor, it didn't
make him look
"young and
virile" either.
Maksim's hot
pink shirt under
a vest for
Quickstep was a
bit "off" in my
opinion, but,
lacking a
compelling
reason for
wearing
something
else, I tend to
go for
the traditional
look of tails
in that dance. Click here

Sabrina
Bryan
did a
fairly
nice
Jive,
though,
as
Michael
Schedler
remarked,
her feet
didn't
seem to
be on a
"first
name"
basis in
that
they
seldom
got
close to
one
another
(and
I don't
recall
that
they
actually
closed
at all).
And
those
shoes!
Could an
uglier,
clunkier-looking
pair of shoes be found to put on the feet of someone
who is going to be scrutinized from head to toe by
cameras?

DWTS, Season 5, Week 4
This seemed to be another night for some of the
celebs to "whine, whine, whine". Especially
Sabrina Bryan and Jennie Garth.
Interesting to note that folk like Marie
Osmond - who could have used the fainting
spell as an excuse - and Jane Seymour
- who could use age, her mother's passing or
depression over that fact as an excuse - were
extremely positive about the challenges they faced. Click here

By now, most of you would know that
my prediction was wrong about Marie Osmond receiving
the boot from DWTS. They actually went with a
somewhat better choice and got rid of Mark Cuban.
Though I do have to admit that the show seemed to be
teaching him a bit of humility. At least he quit
bragging about his billions, ya know?Click here

Why are these judges
giving good critiques and high scores for bad
dancing and giving such low scores to the better
dancers?

First, a correction:
I was reminded by Len Diana that, of the male
dancers, Johnathan Roberts was,
some years ago, notable for his Ballroom/Smooth
dancing.

Computers, the Internet and Web Sites are just
marvelous inventions. Since my recorder failed to
record DWTS Monday night, I went to the ABC web site
and watched the show "online". Click here to read the complete article.
