The 16th of April is a big day for many people from the greater Houston area. That's the day of our Gulf Coast Stars Dance Tournament, which is turning out to be a well-rounded event with good participation from the community.
Many people have asked about the schedule. While we hoped to have a more concrete schedule available by now, there have been a few glitches along the way and we are not quite prepared for anything but a general schedule. But this should be of help if you're wondering when you dance.
The day will start with the American Rhythm section, followed by the International Standard/Ballroom section, then a lunch break, then the American Smooth section, and we'll finish up with the International Latin section.
The studio will be open beginning at 9am. Some people have yet to register, so we'll need to get that taken care of before you can dance. Also, some people need to get tickets.
Here's the schedule:
9:00am - Studio opens for Registration and Practice
10:00am - Introduction of Officials and start of American Rhythm section
11:40am - Start of International Standard/Ballroom section
12:30pm (or thereabouts) - Break for lunch
2:00pm - Start of American Smooth section
4:00pm - Start of International Latin section.
The event will end somewhere around 6:45pm.
Multi-dance and scholarship divisions will be danced toward the end of each section. Awards will be presented at the end of each section.
Please be at the studio early so you can be dressed and ready to step onto the floor when it's your turn to dance. We have a very tight schedule and want to move through it in an orderly and efficient manner.
If you need tickets or need to register, please plan time into your schedule to get here early enough to take care of those matters.

The Dance Place is located at 3300 Chimney Rock Rd, Suite 500, Houston, TX, 77056. PH: 713-266-0066.
We are accessed via Beverly Hill, which is 1 block south of Richmond Avenue and 3 blocks north of US 59 (Southwest Freeway). Look for CHIMNEY ROCK PLAZA. When you see that, look for DANCE GALAXY. This is the front parking lot, but you want the REAR PARKING LOT for access to the building. You can only turn west on Beverly Hill from Chimney Rock. Once you do, go to the 2nd parking lot on the left and you are there. You may also (& might need to) park in the front lot once the back lot is full. If you park in the front lot, you can walk through the building via the wooden door with "200s" above it.
