As a result of TV shows like Dancing With The Stars, Ballroom Boot Camp and So You Think You Can Dance, more and more people have become aware of the joys of partnership dancing dancing in recent years.  This increased interest in dancing has lead to a large and growing demand for Dance Teachers.

Many public and private schools now offer courses in Ballroom, Latin, Country Western, American and International, Hustle, Salsa, Swing, Jitterbug, Lindy and other styles of partnership dance.  Most universities and colleges also have some sort of social dance club.  And there are Dance Studios opening up in unprecedented numbers all over the USA.  This is a PERFECT TIME to enter the professional field as a Ballroom Dance Educator.  Well-trained instructors can find a teaching position in any area of the country that interests them.  Though there are no guarantees that this would happen in all cases, studios will often assist highly qualified teachers with their moving expenses and even help them find suitable living accommodations.

The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is a world-wide dance teachers' organization that is headquartered in London, England.  The organization was founded in 1904 and has grown to become the world's leading dance examinations board with a sector in the United States known as the US ISTD.  This organization has set high standards in dance for over 100 years and is a world leader in developing dance techniques.  Frequently offering one or two-day training sessions for teachers and students known as "Congresses", the US ISTD is now sponsoring intensive training programs - Dance Camps, if you will - for people who are interested in becoming teachers to fill the growing demand for knowledgeable dance educators all across America.

In Houston, TX, US ISTD Fellow and Examiner Phillip Stephens is pleased to offer one of the first US ISTD-sponsored training sessions for aspiring teachers.  The course will take place during the week of July 21-25, 2008, at The Dance Place, 3300 Chimney Rock, Suite 500, Houston, TX, 77056.  The course will cover the American Bronze Ballroom dances of Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and Viennese Waltz.  During the 30 hours of training available in this course for just $350 per person, you will learn a routine in each of these dances along with the technical details about all the steps and variations from the American Bronze Ballroom Syllabus.  By the end of this course, ambitious and dedicated participants will be well on their way to becoming certified as Ballroom Dance Instructors.

Phillip Stephens has trained many dance teachers over the years.  Some of them have opened their own studios and many of them have entered into competition careers, and some have eventually become judges for dance competitions. Phillip travels extensively around the United States giving speeches and lectures, coaching dancers and conducting US ISTD examinations.  He has judged World Championship events in Switzerland and has been a lecturer at the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Annual Summer Congress in Worthing, England.  His experience and knowledge is available to you in this week-long dance camp for teachers.  Contact him today to reserve your spot for this training and get started on the rewarding path of becoming a knowledgeable and highly trained dance educator with one of the oldest and most highly respected dance teaching organizations in the world!

Dance teachers work with folk from all walks of life; Dance Educators travel, attend seminars and lectures, enter competitions, and often develop distinguished careers as Professional Competitors.  Don't miss your chance to become one of those "in demand" dance educators - contact Phillip Stephens via phillip@theplace2dance.com or 713-248-2299.  We'll see ya on the dance floor!
