Become a Dance Educator

Phillip Stephens will be starting a new Become a Teacher training course in the near future.   This is a fantastic opportunity for people who are interested in becoming Dance Educators to get training from one of the world's most highly certified dance instructors.   As an Examiner for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), Phillip will provide detailed instruction in all areas needed to turn you into a top-notch and extremely knowledgeable instructor.

These programs are extremely popular, drawing folk from outlying areas and even from as far away as Beaumont, TX.   For best results, Phillip likes to provide as much personal attention as possible during the training sessions.  That means a limit must be set on the number of people who can join any one training program.  With a limited number of slots available in each course, the spaces fill up quickly.  To be sure you can get in on the next session, I urge you to get registered now or miss your opportunity to get trained by one of the five ISTD Examiners residing in the USA.

Phillip's next course will cover American style  Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango & Viennese Waltz in the Smooth section and Rumba, Cha-cha, Bolero, Swing & Mambo in the Rhythm section.

The class will meet for 2 hours every Monday evening from 8pm to 10pm, with the exception of holidays. Each participant must purchase study manuals, 1 for Smooth & 1 for Rhythm, each costing $25 for a total of $50 for the 2 books. Tuition for the 9-dance course is $195 per month.

During the training, each participant will learn both the lead and follow halves of each pattern, and must also learn all the various alternate methods of dancing every step.  Learning the footwork, timing, amount of turn, positions of the feet and, where applicable, the rise and fall, alignments and other technical details are important aspects of the training.  By the conclusion of each course, each participant will have learned a brief routine in each dance which will be performed during the Dance Review that is part of the "graduation" process.

During the Dance Review, each participant must also demonstrate technical knowledge about various patterns chosen by the Reviewer.  Each successful participant will receive a Certificate of Completion attesting to the fact that all requirements of the training have been met satisfactorily.

All training will take place at The Dance Place, 3300 Chimney Rock Rd., # 500. If you'd like to participate in the training, please send your complete contact details to phillip@theplace2dance.com. If you know someone who may be interested in this program, please forward this information to them.
